[Written for the Sentinel]

"Thy Maker is thine husband"

"Thy Maker is thine husband." God hath shown
Ofttimes to me the glory of this prayer.
Stranger in foreign lands, I, drear, alone,
Upon Isaiah's words have leaned, and where
My need seemed greatest I have found that He,
Redeemer, Father, hath protected me.

"Thy Maker is thine husband." Countless days
When poverty and fear have clamored long,
I have been led in quiet, peaceful ways
Through trusting in this prayer, this joyous song.
With needs supplied, I could not doubt that He,
Redeemer, Holy One, had nourished me.

"Thy Maker is thine husband." I have wept
Ofttimes o'er persecutions, trials, fears;
Remembering this prayer, then have I crept
Within Love's secret place. Yea, all my fears
Are wiped away through knowing well that He,
The God of the whole earth, abides with me.
