In March, 1913, I suffered what is termed a nervous breakdown, and finally got in such a state I was afraid to leave the house, as I felt that I was going to lose my mind. I was then located with my family on the desert, eighteen miles from Mojave, Cal., our mail coming through the Los Angeles Aqueduct. With other things there came to us three copies of the Sentinel, which were thrown aside, as my wife and I knew nothing of Christian Science.

One day, after a severe spell, feeling as though I would become demented unless something were done for me, I went to the house, where instead of a magazine I picked up a Sentinel, and read it from the first to the last word, then asked my wife for the other two copies and read them also. When I had finished I said I was going to be a Christian Scientist; that I could be healed, and I was.

Since then I have had many wonderful healings through the help of practitioners. Glasses had been worn for five years, the specialist saying the eye tissues were exhausted. After one treatment the glasses were taken off and I have never missed them, although I have used my eyes more than ever before. Christian Science has been a great help to me in my work and in my feeling toward my fellow men, and I earnestly pray and strive for a fuller understanding. I am thankful to God, also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the many blessings that have come to me. I am striving to know more of the truth that makes us free.
