About ten years ago Christian Science was presented to me through the healing of my sister. I had been a semi-invalid for years, during which time I was continually under the care of physicians who were quite unable to give me relief, so that I was easily persuaded to visit a Christian Science practitioner and ask for treatment. It seemed, however, that I was not then ready for the revelation of Truth, and after a few months I turned again to material remedies, and also to a new physician, who was very encouraging and quite confident of helping me. The mental and physical depression nevertheless grew deeper, until one afternoon, when I came in utterly exhausted from a very short walk, feeling desperate I picked up an old copy of Science and Health which some one had given my brother long ago and which had been lying there with its beautiful message unheeded. As I opened it I said aloud to my family, "If there is anything in this book for me I am going to get it," earnestly meaning every word. When I began to read in the Perface (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings," something immediately attracted and held me. Two days after this I threw away my medicine and wrote to a practitioner for help. From that day I have not taken any material remedy.

My health has steadily improved, though the healing has been slow. Chronic ills have dropped off, and my whole outlook on life is changed. I have no longer a morbid, depressed disposition, from which I had suffered since childhood, and I can endure fatigue that before would have prostrated me. Another thing I want to mention is the way Christian Science helped me in the overcoming of sorrow. When my mother was taken from me, life seemed so desperate and impossible that I was forced to turn with all my strength to God as I understood Him in Christian Science, and with loving help I was carried through this trial in a way beyond all human imagining. With this same understanding of divine Love I have been brought safely through other dark places that were hopeless to human sense. My longing is to grow steadily in the understanding of the truth. I love it more and more each step of the ever brightening path.

These are some of the ways in which God has helped me through Christian Science, and I realize more every day how impossible life would be without it.
