One night, one of my little boys had great difficulty in breathing, as there seemed to be a serious obstruction in the nose, causing great annoyance and therefore sleeplessness. Before I came into Science he had been operated on for nasal growths, and it occurred to me that perhaps they had returned; however, I held to the thought that there are no obstructions in the realm of Truth, that divine Mind and its manifestation are always harmonious, and that therefore matter has no intelligence to become abnormal in any sense. After a little while the child became quiet, and he then slept peacefully until morning.

I was wakened another night by the crying of my older son, and found that he was suffering from toothache,—not one tooth but all the teeth seemingly clamoring for recognition. He had been playing football the day before and was somewhat shaken up by it, and I thought perhaps this was a result. I declared the truth audibly to him, when a statement from Science and Health suddenly came to me so forcibly that I gave utterance to it,—that in God "all being is painless and permanent" (p. 414). In a few minutes the boy turned on his side and went to sleep. The next morning he told me that when I declared the truth to him the suffering faded away and he was free.

A few months ago some one whom I hardly knew was apparently causing me a great deal of annoyance. At length there came a day when I could stand it no longer, and I tried to declare love for the seeming offender and to know that the offenses were no part of her. The next morning, upon answering the telephone, I was greatly surprised (though I shoudl not have been, knowing that Love and Truth always destroy error) to find that it was this lady, and she wished me to come to see her. With some trembling I did so, feeling that Truth was doing the work and that I must do my part, also that I would be given strength and wisdom to do and to say the right thing. Truth did indeed uncover and destroy the error, though to mortal sense the struggle seemed long, but all things were adjusted and all parties concerned were benefited.
