I gratefully testify herewith to the rich blessings which I have received through Christian Science. For years I had been afflicted with hemorrhages from an ulcerated stomach, and with neuralgia. The lightest kind of food disagreed with me, and there was little hope of improvement. In my need I heard of Christian Science, and although the subject seemed quite incomprehensible to me at first, yet it contained a definite promise, and I therefore decided to attend the meetings and services in order that I might gain a clearer idea of these teachings. Next I applied to a Christian Science practitioner, who declared herself ready to help me. It was lovingly explained to me that God is man's life, that there is no power apart from Him, hence that all evil is unreal. A change took place in my condition, and in a short time I had so far recovered that I could partake of all kinds of food without experiencing any discomfort.
I was very happy and grateful for the help received, but the memory of my former sufferings had so impressed itself upon my mind that I entertained a sense of fear lest there might be a relapse. This mental state finally did result in a severe manifestation of the former trouble. I had to ask again for help, but the practitioner immediately discerned the trouble, and this time the fear was destroyed along with all symptoms of disease through the power of divine Truth. This wonderful healing and all the good which I have experienced since have made Christian Science very dear to me. I feel convinced that divine Love will continue to be my help, guide, and instructor in gaining a better and clearer understanding of Christian Science.
For all these blessings I am deeply thankful to God, and grateful for having been led by His goodness into the right way. I also lovingly remember Mrs. Eddy, our revered Leader, through whose work it has become possible for us to know the truth. My family shares my gratitude, and we are endeavoring to draw more and more from the fount of life, that we may fully recognize that God is Truth, Spirit, and Love.—Hermann Helms, Schwerin i.M., Germany.
