In the Bible we read that as Paul journeyed in Athens he found an altar with this inscription: "To the unknown God." Only five years ago I too built altars to an unknown God, to one who I believed sent sickness and trials. I was therefore most miserable, and then it was that a dear friend gave me a copy of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. This book has made me a Bible student and has taught me that we are now living in a spiritual universe, governed by our loving Father's perfect law, and that as John said, "Now are we the sons of God."

I realize more every day that we are the sons of God only as we reflect Life, Truth, and Love. So we must choose today whom we will serve,—whether it shall be an altar to "the unknown God" or "an offering pure of Love," as our Leader says (Hymnal, p. 243), "whereto God leadeth me."

Many times each day my heart goes out in gratitude for the Christian Science understanding of God.
