For a long time it has seemed to me that I ought to tell of the many blessings which I have received in Christian Science. This teaching was presented to me a few years ago by a young man with whom I was working, and the power of Truth began at once to take effect. At the time I was suffering from stomach and bowel trouble, nervousness, almost constant colds, and a general run-down condition. I was also a slave to tobacco and indulged freely in the use of alcoholic liquors. A copy of Science and Health was purchased, and I began an earnest study of it together with other Christian Science literature and the Bible. The result was that in an astonishingly short time the physical ailments disappeared, likewise all desire for liquor. With the aid of one Christian Science treatment the tobacco habit was overcome, and a few months later I was healed of an ulcerated tooth in a few treatments.
For all the physical healings much gratitude is felt, but that for which I am most grateful is the moral regeneration, —the spiritual uplift and the understanding of God and man,—and for the light that Christian Science throws on the Bible. My mother had often tried to persuade me to study the Scriptures, but I had always looked upon them as being too deep for me. Now I can see that they had to be unlocked first, and Christian Science has done this for me, so that instead of considering it a duty, it is now a pleasure to study them. Words can never express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for that wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings. I am grateful for all the Christian Science literature, and above all thankful to God, the giver of all good.
