San Bernardino, Cal. —The largest building permit of the year was issued today [Oct. 9]. It was for the construction of First Church of Christ, Scientist, on the church property at Seventh and E Streets. The permit calls for the expenditure of eighteen thousand three hundred dollars. It is announced that the total cost, with furnishings, will be about twenty-five thousand dollars. The main auditorium will provide seats for three hundred and fifty people. A balcony above the foyer will seat one hundred more, while the Sunday school room will seat two hundred and fifty-five. The latter can be thrown into the main auditorium if needed, giving a total normal seating capacity of over seven hundred people.—San Bernardino News.
Middletown, Conn.—The old Randolph Pease property at the southeast corner of College and Broad Streets has been sold to First Church of Christ, Scientist, the papers in the transaction having been passed last evening [Sept. 28]. The Scientists will have the interior remodeled to suit their purposes, but will leave the exterior largely as it is at present.—Middletown Press.
Trinidad, Col.—The corner-stone of the new Christian Science church at 317 Pine Street was laid this morning [Sept. 26]. According to the present plans the building, which will cost about ten thousand dollars when completed, will be ready for occupancy by Thanksgiving time.
