I was led to study Christian Science through a healing I...
I was led to study Christian Science through a healing I had before I understood anything about this teaching. For years I had suffered from ill health, and although I tried about every known material treatment, it was still impossible for me to do even the ordinary things of life. After my healing, which was instantaneous, my health improved steadily, until now I can do with ease more than was possible for years.
The healing occurred while I was on a visit to a friend who had just begun the study of Christian Science. Her improved mental and physical condition made me interested in everything she had to tell about Christian Science. The day following my arrival I was introduced to one of her neighbors who had been wonderfully healed, and her testimony, given in such a simple, honest, convincing way, made a deep impression on me. That afternoon I went with my friend to her practitioner, and while there heard other testimonies that deepened the impression already made, to such a degree that I asked for a treatment. This was given, and at the end, when the practitioner told me that I was healed and that I need never take any medicine for anything, I said, "That is lovely, if it is true." She assured me that it was true, and so it proved to be.
To be made free from bowel trouble, an ailment which had clung to me all my life, gave me a great desire to understand the healing power, and to accomplish this I read faithfully the Christian Science literature, getting at first only an occasional gleam of light. Little by little the truth was revealed, and now I know that the healing power is the God-power; that it is always here for us to use; that it is always active, and that all who seek shall find. I trust that I shall be able to pay my debt of gratitude to Christian Science by right thinking and right living.
