In a recent issue of Chat, under the heading, "What the Doctor Says," the writer advocates sunshine, fresh air, simple, healthy food, rest, and faith as aids to health, and adds: "What of rest and faith? Must we turn lazy and become Christian Scientists? By no means." May I point out that to "turn lazy" and at the same time become a Christian Scientist is a moral impossibility. On the first page of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, "prayer, watching, and working" are emphasized as essential to health, and St. Paul's advice to the Philippians to work out their own salvation is the alphabet of Christian Science. A lazy Christian Scientist is a contradiction in terms. If any one doubts this, let him come and try! Striving to obey the divine command to heal the sick, men and women inevitably find themselves workers together with God.
