During the past five years I have learned through an absolute reliance on Christian Science that it is indeed the "Comforter" promised by Jesus. I first became interested in it through observing what it had done for several of my relatives. I had never had any serious sickness, so I took up the study of Christian Science merely to investigate its teaching. During the first five months of attendance at the Sunday and Wednesday evening services, I often became discouraged, because, while reading the Lesson-Sermons daily, I seemingly could not understand all I read; but I kept on with the study, feeling sure Christian Science was the truth.
Then I met with an accident, my right wrist being seriously injured while cranking an automobile. At first everything seemed to turn black, and I was just about to faint, when it dawned on me that "accidents are unknown to God" (Science and Health, p. 424). Immediately everything became clear, and with the assistance of a friend the wrist was set back in place. Just a realization of what those words meant had healed me instantly, for there was no swelling or pain, and in five days I was again using the arm in my daily work.
This experience proved to me that as the result of having read each day faithfully from Science and Health, in spite of the argument that I could not understand it, I had understood it, and this understanding had been available and applicable, and it was the truth. Since that moment Christian Science has been my constant guide in all things in my home, my business, and all my experience. I have since been healed of the liquor and tobacco habits, and have had numberless proofs of the wonderful healing power of Christian Science.
