I am glad to be able to testify to a wonderful instance of help received a few years ago through Christian Science. On Washing day I evidently sustained an injury to the thumb of my right hand, for the following day it was very much swollen, with symptoms of blood-poisoning extending to the elbow. I went to a Christian Science practitioner, who took up treatment for me in the most loving way. In the mean time the upper arm as far as the shoulder had also become very much swollen, and the hand was badly discolored. On the third day I suddenly awoke out of a sense of stupor, and as an effect of Christian Science treatment a wonderful sense of peace came over me. I had been lying almost unconscious, when the thumb opened and discharged. Afterward the old skin came off, and everything was overcome in such a wonderful way that I experienced a sense of shame to think of how ungrateful mortals are in the presence of such manifestations of infinite Love, and how little we praise God and give Him the glory.

We had another experience which brought the vivid realization of divine Love's watchful care over its own. About twelve o'clock one night in December, 1914, I was awakened all of a sudden as if by a divinely aroused impulse. I arose and tottered to the kitchen in a state of dizziness. In the kitchen, to which a door led from the bedroom, the gas-pipe had become loosened, and gas had been leaking out since half past ten, as I had forgotten to turn off the main tap. My mother was not affected, but I had to shake my niece out of a stupor. In these moments of anguish I realized the import of divine Science, for I can but believe it was God, good, that kept me from lighting a match, and gave me strength and led me to do the right thing under the circumstances. After a few hours spent unitedly in fervent prayer, in realizing the truth and giving thanks to the Father, everybody went back to sleep.

We have had innumerable blessings in our family circle. God's omnipotence has been made manifest in cases where we seemed in great stress. Help in a financial way is also experienced by those who trust Him implicitly as their source of supply. Words are inadequate to express my thankfulness to God, and my gratitude for the fact that there are present with us so many faithful people who are ready to lift us up when we have stumbled. This thought ought to make us feel very happy and grateful indeed. I am most deeply grateful for the truth which through Mrs. Eddy has again been given to the world, and I praise God for the strength and spiritual uplift which I have experienced through Christian Science.
