After nearly five years in Christian Science without one...
After nearly five years in Christian Science without one dose of medicine for myself or my two children, I feel it a privilege as well as a pleasure to tell others of some of my blessings. To any one who worries, let me say there is nothing that can meet your need and bring you peace in trials like Christian Science. It has taught me to be a better woman, a better wife, and a better housekeeper. Instead of letting circumstances trouble me, I am learning to meet them as they come, with the understanding of Science which I have gained. The problems that were once like mountains to me, now speedily disappear like clouds before the sunshine. I am one who experienced a slow healing, and of all my blessings I consider that the greatest. It has forced me to take up my cross, that I may win the crown. It has compelled me to learn of and lean upon God. My heart swells with gratitude when I think of "the helps along the way" that have been provided for those who are in earnest,—Mrs. Eddy's writings, our periodicals, our churches, practitioners, and lecturers.
Since giving up materia medica, we have had demonstrations over various ailments, also a number of severe bruises caused by falls, and burns, for both of my little girls; besides a serious chronic bowel trouble for the younger, and a difficulty in breathing that could be heard by any one in the room with her, for the elder. I have been healed of what is called double pleurisy, with only three days in bed; of a state of mind bordering on insanity; of nervousness, on account of which any unusual exertion brought on a heart difficulty; also of headache, hay-fever of three years' standing, and many other ills.
My greatest desire now is to live so that I may pass on to others the good that has been given me, and in this way prove my thankfulness to God, also my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy and the dear friends who have helped me.
