About a year and a half ago my attention was called to Christian Science through a family of friends. I at once took much interest in its teachings, and soon afterward secured a copy of the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and subscribed to the Herold. Both have become my constant companions. I am deeply thankful to God for having again revealed to humanity, through Mrs. Eddy, the pure Christ-teaching, whereby we may find the way to health and peace, to true happiness and bliss. Through the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon and the prayerful reading of the text-book, as well as of the other literature, I have learned that we indeed find our refuge in God, for this truth is our shield and buckler; that the truth makes us free from evil of every kind.

From youth I was afflicted with a severe nervous condition, which gradually extended over the whole body and manifested itself in various forms of disease, such as extreme pain in the back, knees, and limbs, almost unbearable headaches, great timidity, abdominal trouble, and pain in the eyes. I also suffered much with stomach disorder and lack of appetite. I was, however, freed from all these ills through the realization that evil is not of God, hence it is powerless, a nonentity, and that divine power is supreme above all false belief and transcends all material means of healing. Jesus said: "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing."
