The Lectures
The remarks of Maj. H. M. Lord, in introducing Rev. William P. McKenzie at Poli's Theater, were as follows:—
It is nearly half a century since the revelation of truth expressed in Christian Science was given to the world; and this great truth itself, which heals sickness and sin, is as old as creation, and has been available for health and salvation since God made man in His image and likeness. Gathered here are many Christian Scientists who have come to learn something more of this greatest thing in all the world, this revelation of infinite Love that makes all life one perennial springtime. Probably with us today are those who face perplexing and apparently unsolvable problems of business and harassing questions of daily living that urgently call for solution, and possibly also those who are burdened with family troubles and discords from which they vainly seek relief; discouraged ones; afflicted ones, who with shattered health face a future of blank despair; those who are fettered with harmful habits and held in bondage of sin, almost ready to give up the fight. They have all come here with the hope that the day of miracles has not forever passed, that there is still "balm in Gilead," and that the arm of God is not shortened. Christian Science holds out to them a definite and sure promise of adequate relief; for there is no problem, be it social, financial, physical, mental, or moral, be it individual or national, that cannot find in Christian Science its legitimate solution.—Correspondence.
