It is with loving gratitude for the healing, but more for the...
It is with loving gratitude for the healing, but more for the clear realization of the allness of God as taught through this experience in Christian Science, that I give my testimony. Through my great suffering at the birth of our second child, it was discovered by two physicians that there was a fibroid growth present. One of the physicians wanted to operate immediately, but we decided to trust in God, and I was very soon relieved from the intense pain. Under kindred conditions in 1914, some members of my family became very much alarmed, remembering the testimony of the physicians that it would be extremely dangerous to pass through this experience again, and that birth could never take place normally.
To quiet this fear, I placed myself in the care of a surgeon in Boston, who upon examination said the growth was still there and must be removed. Accordingly I entered the hospital and was prepared for the operation. The peace which I felt from the time I entered the hospital until I came out was indescribable. The story of the Israelites in the Red sea was beautifully explained to me by a Christian Science practitioner, and it was a very great help, for I felt that God could and would deliver me as He did them. When I was put on the operating-table, my last conscious thought was one which I would have liked to have had remain forever; it was the clear realization of the omnipresence of God, and I immediately thanked Him for this deliverance. The effects of the ether were readily overcome, and the surgeon's report was that the growth had disappeared. He was not satisfied with his own examination, however, and called in another surgeon, and without telling him anything about the case, asked him to diagnose it. This he did, and both agreed that although there were indications that there had been a growth, not a trace of it could be found.
Is it any wonder that I now exclaim with joy, There is none so great as our God. Surely I can never again doubt God's power to heal. I would like to add that in the fulness of time a dear little daughter appeared to us after only twenty-five minutes of labor. My thankfulness and love to God is unbounded, as is my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, and I trust my life will show it.
