I wish to express my gratitude for the great blessings received in Christian Science, mentally, physically, and spiritually. While I have been healed of many ailments during the past five years, my first healing, that of influenza in two treatments, was the most wonderful to me. I had suffered from this complaint nearly every winter, and the attacks would last for two or three weeks, but the after effects from two to three months. I had tried all the "sure cures" I could find in materia medica without relief. A friend then recommended Christian Science, but as I did not know anything about it, I was not very enthusiastic. When he offered to take me to see a practitioner, however, I was about ready to try anything that promised relief, so I went with him. I talked with the Christian Scientist, but about all I remembered was that I could be healed.

After giving me a treatment, the practitioner told me to call again the next morning. I did not feel any immediate change in my condition, but I did feel somewhat better during the day, and accordingly went to see him, as requested, the following morning. While I took several more treatments to make sure that I was healed, I did not feel any effects of the ailment after the second. I have never had a severe cold since, or any return of the influenza, except a slight attack about a year ago, which was promptly overcome through Christian Science. This is very wonderful to me, as I had suffered almost continually from coughs and colds every winter. At the time I was healed the practitioner advised me to get a copy of the Bible,—I had never owned one,—also a copy of Science and Health and a Christian Science Quarterly. This I did, and consider it the best investment I have ever made, as these books have been my constant companions ever since.
