I am thankful for the privilege of giving my testimony
I am thankful for the privilege of giving my testimony. I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but because I was looking for a people who practised what they preached, who lived according to the precepts of the Sermon on the Mount and the golden rule in their every-day life and dealings with others. I had been warned to "beware" of Christian Science, because it was "spooky." Now, I never liked mysterious things, but always wanted the full light on every subject; above all, I wanted the truth about everything. I was in great grief when I went to a Christian Science service for the first time; indeed, there is not a step on the road of human heartache that I do not know. I intended to go to one Sunday morning and one Wednesday evening service in order to satisfy myself about this "peculiar people" and not take the word of any one else about it; but I have never wished to stay away since.
I have had many proofs of God's all-presence, protection, and care in my immediate family and with others. Glasses have been laid aside because there was no further use for them, and hay-fever of twenty-five years' standing has vanished. Speaking from the standpoint of a mother, I would say that it is not possible to overestimate the hourly help that the understanding of Christian Science, even in a slight degree, affords in every way. If patience means waiting and knowing that we shall have what is right for us, then in that one thing alone Christian Science is worth having. I have also found it valuable in acquiring a foreign language.
I am indeed filled with thankfulness to know that this religion is not only for me and mine, but for the entire human family under the one Father, who is "no respecter of persons," and that whosoever will, may come and "take the water of life freely." Most of all, I am happy because I can help others, and I hope my experience may benefit some one who is in doubt as to the efficacy of Christian Science. I would say to such a one, Take courage; there is nothing impossible with God, and there is help for you.
