It is indeed with a grateful heart that I testify to what Christian Science has done for me. About six years ago it was presented to me for investigation. At that time I was affiliated with a church, and a devout worker in it. I did not think I needed a religion to heal me; in fact, I always prided myself on my health and stregth, although many are the times that I had to go home from work on account of severe headaches. My mother had been afflicted with headaches for fifty years, and according to the generally accepted laws of heredity, there seemed no reason why I should not have them, especially as our family physician often told me I would, and said there was no cure for them. At the same time I was wearing a support, as I had been ruptured some four years before, and the doctor advised this as the only remedy. Frequently when at work I would be compelled to stop and adjust the support, and I could not be without it at all. I thought my days as a horseshoer were over.

Christian Science appealed to me from the very beginning, and it was not long before I saw the light and noticed that the headaches came less frequently, and many other discords were giving place to harmony. In the Bible we read that "God is love." In love there is no hate; no evil of any kind, no sin, sickness, or death. John says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear;" and the Bible also tells us that God is "of purer eyes than to behold evil." It is this understanding and realization of God, and of man created in His image and likeness, that has freed me from the bondage of man-made laws which would hold one to such slavery and ignorance. Now I am entirely well, although frequently put to severe tests of heavy and straining lifts. The headaches and the hernia have passed into their native nothingness, together with many other wrong conceptions. The power of Spirit over matter has been proven to me in many instances. It has transformed for me a life of uncertainty into one of confidence, contentment, and happiness. I would be ungrateful indeed if I did not thank God through Christian Science for so many blessings.
