Having been a beneficiary of the teaching of Christian Science seven years, I now feel it a duty as well as a privilege to testify to this fact. Christian Science came into my life at a time when I was without hope and without God. My dominant desire was to die, as I believed I could thus escape the ills and disappointments of what I called life. Now I know, in a degree at least, what life is—I know it is not sorrow, despondency, etc., but is joy, peace, and activity. Christian Science has healed me of many ills, among them rheumatism, fever, and an injured ankle which was swollen to twice its normal size. The ankle never pained me after I realized the truth of the statement in Science and Health (p. 76), "Suffering, sinning, dying beliefs are unreal." I asked myself, Do you believe this is really true? Yes, came the quick rejoinder, I know that it is a fact. Well, if so, arise and walk. I did so, and was healed.

In my school experience the study of psychology was very unsatisfactory to me, as it never seemed consistent that intelligence could originate in a material brain. The inconsistency was explained when I studied Christian Science, for this teaching showed me the impossibility of intelligence originating in matter, and I was satisfied. I have had the privilege of class instruction, and I am daily endeavoring to realize the truth about every condition that presents itself. Christian Science has brought into my home and environment more joy than I ever dreamed possible.
