Faith without works has ever cried "devil" at proof of faith through works; as, for instance, when Jesus was proving the power of spiritual law to reform the sinner and heal the sick, he was charged with casting out devils through Beelzebub. His clear and logical answer to this charge showed the impossibility of casting out devils through the chief of devils, because a "house divided against itself" cannot stand. Jesus explained that he cast out devils through the law of God. It will be seen from this that the statement by an evangelist that Christian Science is of the devil, as reported in a recent issue, and other unjust and untrue statements made by him, but repeat the charges the incredulous have ever made against the power of divine Mind, God, to heal the sick and every discordant condition, as well as sin.

Christian Science teaches that God is Mind, divine Love, and declares His omnipresence, omnipotence, and omniscience. It has put this teaching into practice by healing thousands upon thousands of sickness, including every disease known to mankind. The Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, explains spiritual law as set forth in the Word of God in an orderly and understandable manner, and each one may determine the accuracy of its teachings for himself. Christian Science is the opposite of suggestion, and Mrs. Eddy's writings set forth in unmistakable terms that the practice of suggestion would prove one's inability to heal through the law of God.

Christian Science teaches that because God is "of purer eyes than to behold evil," and cannot "look on iniquity," He cannot know sin or sickness, and that man as His image and likeness cannot sin or be sick. Christian Science teaches further that all the sin and sickness the world has ever known is from wrong thinking about God and man, and shows why a sick body or a sick mind cannot glorify God, because neither exists through the law of God. Christian Science sets about to destroy sin and sickness through the operation of spiritual law as taught and demonstrated in the life and works of our Way shower, Christ Jesus. No Christian Scientist, however, has ever claimed to have the understanding of divine Love that Jesus manifested, but present proofs give the assurance that we shall finally "grow into that stature of manhood in Christ Jesus" (Science and Health, p. 350) by which we shall be able to fulfil all his commands and emulate him in all things, including the unfailing destruction even to human sense of everything that is unlike divine Love.
