It is with a deep sense of love and gratitude that I write this testimony of my healing through Christian Science. The subject was first brought to my notice by a dear friend in the summer of 1907. A year later, when in sore need of help, I went to a practitioner and asked for treatment, which was most kindly given. I was then advised to purchase a copy of Science and Health and told to read the "scientific statement of being" on page 468. This was about three o'clock in the afternoon. I read the book till evening, and then retired. When I arose the next morning a great load of fear had been lifted, and I realized that I had been healed of colds in the chest, as well as catarrh of the head, from which I had suffered many years. The joy of that morning cannot be expressed in words; it can never go out of my life. I was also cured of the tobacco habit, to which I had been a slave for twelve years; and although I did not enjoy liquor, I never had the moral strength to refuse when asked to take part in drinking, but thanks to Christian Science that weakness has been overcome.
For all these healings, and many others, I am truly thankful to God, and grateful to our dear Leader. In 1913 it was my privilege to receive class instruction, for which I am deeply grateful. As I study the Bible and our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I am convinced that Christian Science is a practical religion, and that it fulfils every one of its beautiful promises. I am grateful for membership in the Christian Science church and for the help I have received at the reading-rooms. Finally, I want to express my thankfulness for all our publications. The Sentinel has been my true friend and companion for nearly seven years.
