With deep-felt thankfulness to God, I am glad to testify to the loving help and the benefits I have received from Christian Science. From my school days onward I was seldom well. I suffered from bilious attacks, stomach disorder, and neuralgia, as well as severe colds and coughs. Although numerous doctors were consulted, I never seemed to get permanent relief, and the constant advice to diet, have massage, rest, etc., became very irksome. Matters grew worse as years went on, and I became seriously ill. A specialist pronounced the trouble colitis, and said the only hope of combating it was by a long period of inoculation.

It was then, when everything looked so black, that Christian Science came with its beautiful message of hope and love, and I feel sure that God sent it to me in answer to my prayers. The vaccine had been prepared, but four days before my appointment for the first inoculation, I suddenly decided to ask a practitioner to give me Christian Science treatment, and so postponed my appointment with the doctor. The help was given at once, and in less than a week I was healed, not only of the colitis but of a chronic bowel disorder and other ailments. The physical healing was a great relief, but the sense of joy and peace which came with it gave me convincing proof that God does heal diseases now as in Jesus' time. The Bible from that time became a new book to me. I never before seemed to understanding it, although I often tried.

It is nearly six years since this first healing, and during that time I have sought no other help than my heavenly Father's. Pleurisy, lumbago, long-standing catarrh, have all yielded, sometimes instantaneously, to prayer as we understand it in Christian Science. I should also like to mention the wonderful help given in a time of great strain and sorrow. Words are inadequate to express how I was lifted above it. It brought to me a greater knowledge of our Father's love than I had ever realized before, and a stronger desire to prove my gratitude by daily serving Him more faithfully, and conveying this great truth to others as our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, wished us to do.
