Isle of Man Times,

In a recent issue there appears an article on spiritual healing, by Dr.—, in which he makes a statement with regard to Christian Science which might be misleading to the beginner. He says that the central idea of Christian Science is the complete denial of the actuality of both matter and disease. Now it is quite clear to any thinker that no system can have for its central idea a negative statement or a denial of something. On page 203 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes, "God is at once the center and circumference of being." This is the fundamental basis of Christian Science. Since God is infinite Spirit, the corollary necessarily follows that matter and disease do not exist in the reality of being. Mrs. Eddy again writes (p. 335), "Reality is spiritual, harmonious, immutable, immortal, divine, eternal."
