It is now over seven years since I took up the study of Christian Science, and I wish to add my testimony in the hope that it may help some one who is suffering as I was. I had been a constant sufferer for fifteen years, under the care of a physician most of the time. I had submitted to various kinds of material treatment, but with little or no benefit; had undergone six operations, and still failed to find relief. I was in constant pain, and confined to my bed for weeks at a time.

When at last I turned to Christian Science, I had been in bed for five months under the care of four physicians, who had done all in their power for me; but still I was no better. One doctor advised an operation, saying it was the only thing that could possibly help me. The others disagreed, saying I was too weak to stand an operation. It was in this condition that Christian Science found me, and it has been truly said that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." Christian Science was presented to me by a friend, who asked me to telephone to another friend who had been healed. I did so simply to gratify those dear to me, for they surely had done all in their power for me. I had no faith in Christian Science, for I knew absolutely nothing of its teachings; but as the testimony of this friend was very convincing, I agreed to have treatment. The result was that I was on the street the third day after calling a practitioner, and was attending to my household duties on the fourth day.

Since that time it has never been necessary for me to spend a whole day in bed. All the ills did not vanish at once, but by degrees they have all disappeared. Where formerly I could not walk two blocks without excruciating pain, I am now able to go several miles with no inconvenience. Many discords have come up in our home since I began the study of Christian Science, but all have been overcome through the understanding of the power of Truth. Both of our children were healed of scarlet fever through the understanding which my husband and I had gained of Christian Science, though we were very young students. Our little boy was also healed of a stubborn attack of croup. I have been able to lay aside glasses that I had worn for fifteen years.
