Nine years ago I went to a Christian Science practitioner...
Nine years ago I went to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. Since that day I have had no other kind of help, for I have proved that no other help is needed for any human problem. I commenced drinking early in life, but it was not until I was nearly forty years of age that I would acknowledge that I could not stop. From that time until I was forty-seven, only those who have had the same experience know what I went through in the way of suffering. I tried to stop by the use of will-power, medicines, remedies of all kinds, including a well-known cure, and turned to Christian Science as a last resort, though hopeless, after having ridiculed its followers without having the slightest idea of its teachings. I was completely healed in less than one week's treatment, and the truth will do as much for any one. My hope is that this may reach the eye of some one who is looking for relief from the liquor habit. I believe this plain, truthful statement will show the way better than a detailed account of particulars. Christian Science will do the work, for from abject misery I have come into all blessings,—peace, joy, health, happiness, comfort,—and my healing has been permanent. Christian Science, with me, takes precedence over everything.
I am thankful to God, and can find no words strong enough to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy. Daily, more and more, I am striving to thank her in the only way she asks, namely, by demonstrating her teachings in all ways.
