Among the Churches

Current Notes

Hartford, Conn.—Second Church of Christ, Scientist, will lease from the Park Ecclesiastical Society its church at the corner of High and Asylum streets. The first services of the Christian Scientists in this church will be held on Sunday morning, Sept. 6. Second Church of Christ, Scientist, in Hartford, was founded Dec. 21, 1907. At that time about thirty people assembled in a small room in the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company building on Pearl street. In a little more than two years, more extensive quarters became essential. In May, 1910, the large room at 48 Lewis street was made available. Soon afterward, Second Church leased three rooms from the Phœnix Insurance Company for three years. The congregation is increasing steadily.

Lima, Ohio.—A real estate possession of considerable importance to Christian Scientists and their friends was acquired yesterday [July 14], when the title to the old Brice homestead at 553 West Market street passed into the hands of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Lima. The property is among the most desirable locations in the city, fronting seventy-five feet on West Market street, and the lot is two hundred and twenty feet deep. The price paid is said to have been ten thousand dollars.—Lima Democrat.
