I desire to express my gratitude for many blessings received...
I desire to express my gratitude for many blessings received through Christian Science in the last few years, also for a most wonderful demonstration over paralysis of the lower part of my body. On the evening of Jan. 19, 1913, I left the home of my son in Hyde Park, Mass., for the purpose of attending church. In going down the steps I missed my footing and fell. I made three attempts to save myself, but finally had to let go. I was assisted to my feet by my daughter, and then a cloud of fear seemed to come over me as I recalled a similar fall which I had in Worcester two years previous; and soon I found myself unable to walk, or even to stand alone. I was carried into the house and put into a large rocker, where I remained twenty hours.
My daughter communicated with a Christian Science practitioner, and as soon as I could stand it I was carried upstairs and put to bed, seemingly helpless, unable to move myself at all. In three days I could move myself freely; in five, I was able to dress and walk down-stairs; and in ten, I started with my daughter for home. By March 4 I had completely regained the use of my limbs. This was to me a wonderful manifestation of the power of Truth to remove all fear and doubt and restore harmony, as well as to establish the mission of Christian Science as taught by Mrs. Eddy. I cannot find words to express my thankfulness to God for His wonderful goodness in restoring to me the use of my limbs. I am grateful to be able to say that this has been a permanent case of healing. I am seventy-six years old, but I have enjoyed better health this last year than for many years past.—Joseph B. Gifford, New Hartford, Conn.
