With great joy I give my testimony of healing experienced...
With great joy I give my testimony of healing experienced through Christian Science, each instance proving to myself and others that the power of God is as potent now as it was centuries ago. I realize that we are freed from sickness and pain, as well as from the wrong thoughts which cause the suffering, just in proportion as we are willing to forget self and become conscious of the one Mind. I have been healed of severe bowel and stomach trouble, neuralgic headaches, distressing colds and throat attacks, also extreme nervousness, sensitiveness, and impatience, as well as many other ills. I should like to point out the contrast in the length of time and the suffering undergone during two attacks of one ailment under the treatment of materia medica, and that of another in Christian Science.
About twenty-one years ago I was suddenly stricken with great pain, and as my parents thought I was approaching the end, they sent for the nearest physician, who treated me for heart disease. In three or four days, not seeing any improvement in my condition, our regular family doctor was called, and for two weeks different remedies were applied, but they increased the agony. At the end of a month the doctor advised a trip to the mountains, thinking that might cause the ache to wear off. I well remember the weary stage ride to the camp near Shasta, when my father gave me stimulants at intervals to brace me up.
My second attack was in Los Angeles, about three years ago, and the suffering was so intense that I cried aloud to God to help me. My husband stood helpless, with tears in his eyes, waiting for our physician to arrive. When he came, he administered a hypodermic injection. I remained in bed two weeks, and during that time we were notified of a sudden business change which called us back to San Francisco, our former home, where I soon heard of Christian Science through friends.
