I am thankful that I can testify to what God has done for...
I am thankful that I can testify to what God has done for me through Christian Science. After years of great suffering from a complication of diseases, I have been healed of intense pain in the head, from which I was not free for one whole day. I also had spinal trouble, supposedly caused by falling on ice. After suffering for ten years, at times unable to take a step without help, and being told by the doctors that I would never be any better, this healing was wonderful; but I have received many other blessings. I was said to have organic disease of the heart, and the attacks became so frequent that I was afraid to go from home alone, as I had several times fallen unconscious. Then there was a growth in the left side for which the doctor wanted to operate; but to this I would not consent. I wore glasses over fourteen years, but I am glad to say that for over two and a half years I have had no need of them. Besides these, several other ills have been overcome.
I shall never forget my first treatment in Christian Science. I was suffering terribly, as I had been for months, and was tempted to end it all; but when I saw my dear father and brother so worried, and doing all they could for me, I thought it was a sin even to think of such a thing, so I turned my thoughts to God and prayed to Him to help me. God answered my prayer. The practitioner who was treating a friend, kindly offered to help me, and before he left that afternoon I was so much better that I knew my life was saved. I am truly thankful to God for all that was done for me. My entire healing was slow, but this made me study the more, for which I am glad. Since then I have passed through sorrow and trouble, and there have been times when I was much discouraged; but I am thankful to say that my needs have been met through what little understanding I have of Christian Science and the help of the same kind practitioner.
In the summer of 1912 I was able to overcome for myself a case of poison and a very bad cold. I have also been able to assist my brother at different times when he has needed help. Once, when he met with an accident to his wrist and the ligaments of the arm, I did what I could for him, and then sent to a practitioner for treatment. Except for the first night, he suffered very little pain, although the arm was much swollen and he could not use it; but it came around all right. More recently I have had a wonderful demonstration of the power of Truth. I met with an accident by falling down a flight of stairs, and to material sense my injuries were very serious; but I am thankful to say that with the knowledge I had of Christian Science and some help from a practitioner I was soon free from any trouble.
