I send my testimony in the hope that some one who may feel discouraged will take heart and know that divine Love through the understanding of Christian Science does heal, no matter what the trouble may be. I have been healed of a disease commonly called "symmetrical gangrene" in its worst form in both feet and limbs. I had had several amputations, and for months thereafter was unable to get around.
In January, 1912, the doctors told me there was no use to amputate any more, but if I wanted to get well I would have to go to Cuba, where the disease had been contracted from exposure, wounds, and privation fifteen years before. After hearing this anything but cheerful news, I decided to trust God absolutely, though for several years I had been trying Christian Science, material remedies being used when the pain seemed more than I could stand; but the time had come when I was willing to give up material means. I called in a practitioner and accepted the truth as revealed to us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
I am thankful to say that both my limbs are now perfectly healed and I am able to walk without crutches or cane, better than for several years. For this and many other blessings I am indeed grateful to God, and also thankful to Mrs. Eddy, who has shown this age how to interpret the Bible so that we may receive its blessings.—James Pennie, Los Angeles, Cal.
