As Christian Science is the greatest blessing which has ever come into my life, it seems fitting on this, the third anniversary of my recovery through its beneficence, that I should give my testimony to Truth's wonderful healing power. Several years ago, before coming into Christian Science, with a number of friends I attended a Sunday morning church service out of mere curiosity, and said afterward that Christian Science was not for me. Little did I then expect that I should return some six years later to that very same place to pray and to give thanks to God for His wonderful goodness to me.

Since childhood I had had very serious attacks of throat trouble, which would keep me in bed and under a doctor's care for a week or ten days each winter. We had been told something of Christian Science, and as these conditions continued year after year, my wife wished me to give it a trial. A practitioner was called in the morning during one of the worst of these attacks, and I shall never forget the sweet peace that seemed to fill the room as soon as she entered and told me of God's love for His children, and that it was not His will to afflict those who trust in His never-failing strength and help. Immediately after the treatment I rose from my bed and remained up the balance of the day, and on the second day I returned to my business in the city, much to the surprise of my associates, who fully expected me to be absent a week or more, as was customary when this malignant condition, with accompanying fever and general debilitating conditions, seemed to possess me.

Though I had gained some knowledge of Christian Science through the help given me at this time, I later went back to materia medica, as various attacks of sickness seemed to befall me and my family. This course was followed until the early fall of 1909, when I was taken with acute lung trouble, and was under the doctor's care for five weeks, and gradually grew worse. The doctor did everything he could for me, and I am grateful for all his earnest efforts; but he finally told me that he could do nothing further, and that unless I showed improvement during the following week it would be necessary for me to go to Colorado to regain my health.
