Words are inadequate to tell of the bondage from which I...
Words are inadequate to tell of the bondage from which I have been delivered, and it is with a heart full of thankfulness to God that I give this testimony, in the hope that it will help some one who is athirst in the desert. Like many others, I came to Christian Science for the healing at a time when I was a physical wreck, sick and weary of materia medica, which I had been trying for twelve years. I had been suffering from a complication of diseases, among them Bright's disease, rheumatism, and a rupture, and I seemed to be getting worse from year to year. I was unable to do my work, and I could not walk even a few blocks. The physician told my husband that I had only a few months to live.
I was giving up all hope, when I spoke to a friend and said I would like to try Christian Science but knew no practitioner. She said she knew one and would communicate with her. I shall never forget the first treatment,—how I prayed and wept for joy to think I was to be healed, and that God was an ever-present help in time of trouble. That night, for the first time in months, I slept. The next evening I went to a testimony meeting, and I cannot tell of the peace and joy which came over me when I heard the hymns and the reading of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. It was the hand of divine Love that led me to the truth. I am thankful to God and grateful to our revered Leader for what Christian Science has done for me. My one desire is to be a faithful follower of Christ and to be a worthy Christian Scientist.
