When I first heard of Christian Science, I was in bondage...
When I first heard of Christian Science, I was in bondage to error, both physically and mentally; but by the help of a practitioner and the study of the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, also by the light of Truth shining upon the Bible, evil gradually lost its seeming power. I now see the way in which to walk in order to turn from the unreal. I know that I would never have gained the sense of freedom which I now enjoy had my belief in the reality of evil not been destroyed. This understanding was not accomplished at once, but by putting off "the old man with his deeds," and putting on "the new man" after the likeness of Christ Jesus. I am learning every day that no matter what position we hold in the world, we can glorify God. With the help of a Christian Science practitioner, I was delivered of a child with very little pain. The baby was also healed of an unnatural condition of his eyes in a few treatments, and later of what is called spinal meningitis. Besides these cases of healing, the understanding that God is ever-present Love and Life, that He ever gives to His children who listen to His voice, and that we way in darkest hours go to Him in prayer and He will guide, strengthen, and keep us through every trial, so that we need not fear evil,—this is my greatest gain. I feel very thankful to God, and grateful to our Leader, who was pure enough to hear His voice above the clamor of false sense.
Mrs. Mabel Seimears, Longton, Kan.
