I first heard of Christian Science about three years ago,...

I first heard of Christian Science about three years ago, and I went to a Sunday evening service out of curiosity. I had not then then slightest idea that I should receive any benefit. For nearly seven years I had suffered from sleeplessness, but was not taking any medicine, as my doctor told me it would only do me harm. I was, however, taking intoxicating drinks up to four years ago, when I decided never to take stimulants again. After attending the Christian Science services and reading Science and Health for three months, I was healed. Shortly after that, a decayed tooth gave me much pain. I mentioned the case to a Christian Scientist and was advised to go on reading. I followed the advice about six weeks, but could get no relief, so I went to see a practitioner and was healed in one treatment. Later, I came to the conclusion that I had no further use for my pipe, after having been a heavy smoker since boyhood. Then, in the summer of 1911, I hurt one of my knees, and the pain was very severe, so I sent for the same kind practitioner, who worked faithfully to allay my fears. In about three weeks I could walk a little, and shortly afterward I was healed.

My wife had suffered from so-called female disease for over twenty years. After trying several physicians and undergoing one operation, she was told that her case was chronic; that they could give her a drug when the pain was unbearable, but this was as much as they could do for her. After studying Science and Health for about twelve months she was healed without any treatment.

We are both trying to be truly thankful to our heavenly Father for all these blessings, and also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for showing us the way.
