When I came to Christian Science, intellectual pride made...
When I came to Christian Science, intellectual pride made my progress slow; but it has been steady. It was seeming lack which drove me to accept this truth. Though I had been well trained in my profession, there appeared to be no place for me in the industrial world, and I had lost all faith in myself, as well as in every one, and even in God. I realized that in this condition of thought I could not hold a position, even if I had one, and that my thought must be changed. It was not until then that I was willing to come to Christian Science, though a friend, whom I could not help admitting had been healed by the truth, had many times urged me to have treatment. With the kind help of a practitioner, I learned to know that God loves every one of His children, and that Spirit, not matter, is the unfailing and unlimited source of supply for every one, and a position was secured. Through the study of Science and Health the realization of the omnipotence of good and the omnipresence of Love wiped out of my consciousness an inborn fear and sense of hatred, which had brought me much ill.
While moving, last fall, my wrist was badly jammed. As one of the men released it, he said that it was the hardest job he had done that day. My first thought was fear that I could not play the organ the next day, and there was great pain, but I was able to hold my hand up and clearly realize that "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation" (Science and Health, p. 468); and the pain and fear vanished. Although my hand was somewhat swollen and lame the next day, I was able to play, and the writs rapidly healed.
For these and many other demonstrations of the power of Truth which have come to us through Mrs. Eddy in Christian Science, I am truly grateful.
