The study of Christian Science has made such a vast difference...
The study of Christian Science has made such a vast difference in my life, in a year and a half, that I feel it a privilege to tell of the change. Space could not be allotted me to narrate my ten years' struggle for health; my faithful trial of system after system, none of which ever did me any good after the first spurt of faith had been exhausted. Then came a time when my fears were many and great, from those of contagion and colds to that of being pursued by some relentless fate. While all this seemed bad enough, there was something worse, — a growing sense that God did not exist for me, and my final abandonment of the church I had attended and loved, but in which I found no comfort in time of need.
At last a friend loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and though my interest was aroused and I read with avidity, my troubles seemed to increase until the book was finished; nevertheless I determined to visit a practitioner in order to learn something of this faith. His clear statements and spiritual guidance started me immediately on the right road; and through study and application, I have gradually come to see that there is a daily supply of strength for every need, A supposedly inherited and incurable trouble connected with the bladder and the intestines has disappeared; the fear of colds has been overcome; glasses worn since childhood have been laid aside; nervousness and exhaustion, and in fact all of my beliefs in extreme delicacy of health, have vanished; my resentments, lurking malice, and all so-called "harmless little vices" of the worldly-minded have faded away.
My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy is very great, and can only be expressed by a life devoted to the cause of Christian Science.
