I desire to express my thankfulness to God for Christian Science,...
I desire to express my thankfulness to God for Christian Science, but it would take too long if I were to tell all that has been done for me since over a year ago. I was led by Truth to go into a Christian Science reading-room. I want to make it plain that I was divinely led, for no one had ever spoken of Christian Science to me. I was a very sick woman, said to be suffering from Bright's disease and heart trouble, and the doctor had told my husband I must not be left alone, for I did not know how ill I was. After having gone to this doctor every day, and sometimes twice a day, for over eight months, he said that I must go to bed and not walk, because he was afraid I would fall on the street. On my way to his office I had to get out of the car near the Christian Science church, and one day, without thinking what I was doing, I walked in. A lady sitting at the desk spoke kindly to me and asked if I was a Christian Scientist. I said no, adding that I did not know anything about it. I was feeling very ill at the time, and as she saw my condition, she said she would try to help me. I told her that no one could help me, for I had heart disease. She said, "But God can," and after saying the Lord's Prayer as she bade me do, I looked at her, but her eyes were closed, so I knew that she was still praying. The thought then came to me, Does she think that prayer will ever make my heart strong? Thank God, before I got in the car to go home, I was better. Since that time I have been able to work hard, and my husband and friends think it was the most wonderful cure of which they had ever heard.
I hope I can soon give my testimony at the Wednesday evening meeting. The practitioner who was so kind to me has taught me how to be a better woman and to forgive one who had done me a great wrong; in consequence, all hate has gone out of my heart. I thank God for the help I have received, but am especially grateful for the knowledge that God is a loving Father.
