Deep gratitude to God is the motive actuating me in giving this testimony. In the beginning of January, 1912, our little daughter came home from school one day and complained of feeling ill. She attended school, however, on the following day, my husband and myself having persistently declared the truth according to Christian Science, but she returned home at the end of the day suffering intensely. We then asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, and thanks be to God, the child was able to attend school the next day without experiencing the least trouble, and she never missed one lesson.

About that time I was taken with a rather serious cold, which was seemingly quickly overcome; but it only assumed another form, so that I had to stay in bed. We therefore again asked the practitioner for treatment, but I suffered greatly during the following days and nights, and lost the use of my voice. Treatment was continued by the practitioner, however, and the truth was constantly realized by my husband. On the fifth day there was a sudden discharge from the throat, and I experienced such relief that a couple of hours later I was able to talk and to take some nourishment, which had been impossible during the preceding days. From then on my condition rapidly improved, and I was soon able to attend to my household duties. When but thirteen years of age I had experienced a similar attack, and for nearly five months could talk only in whispers, suffering constantly with my throat; but in this later attack my voice was soon clear, and I was free from pain.

Words are indeed inadequate to express my gratitude for this renewed proof of the power of divine Love; but I shall strive daily to advance along the path which Jesus trod and which Mrs. Eddy has pointed out anew. My husband joins me in expressing sincere thanks for the great benefit which Mrs. Eddy has bestowed upon the German-speaking people through the translation of the text-book into their language.
