Since we began the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, we have had many proofs in our family of God's power to heal, for which words fail to express my gratitude. The demonstration which revealed the truth to me most clearly was the healing of our baby boy of acute lung trouble. On Monday I called a practitioner, and the child seemed to receive help, but still the illness did not yield as it should. Wednesday morning I called another practitioner, for the baby's breathing was labored, and he coughed almost constantly. Thursday morning, about four o'clock, he seemed to be worse, and I decided to call a doctor to examine him; so I telephoned to the practitioner and the doctor to come at once, and they arrived early in the morning. The doctor made the examination and said the left lung was badly affected, but he gave no medicine, and did not offer any, as he knew we were Christian Scientists.

In ten minutes after the doctor left, the baby breathed easier. When the practitioner left, she said that I should stop looking for any change; that the baby was governed by spiritual law, as he always had been and always would be. Then the light began to shine a little for me, and I could see that it was I who needed the change in my own thought. The practitioner also said that I should rejoice, and I tried to do so. Late in the afternoon, when I read an article in the Monitor, I jumped up and said, "He is healed, he is well! Now I can rejoice!" I was so happy, and such peace came over me as I have never experienced before! I could indeed feel the presence and power of God. Error tried hard to tempt me, but I remembered Jesus' words, "Get thee behind me, Satan," and quickly put away the temptation to doubt the power of Truth.

The baby began to show marked signs of improvement at once, and slept well. That night he ate some supper and played as usual, while within twenty-four hours from the time the practitioner and the doctor came, he manifested perfect health. I could see so plainly how the disease never had been true, and that it was always a falsity, a lie. Two days later, when I saw the doctor and told him the baby was perfectly well, he said it was grand; it was fine, for he had been a very sick baby.
