Many times I have felt that I should acknowledge the help I have received from the study of Christian Science. In 1902 I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, to investigate whether it contained the truth, and I was so satisfied with the way in which it explained the Bible that I could not return to my old religious beliefs, although I loved my church. Six months later, when I was suffering great pain from an abscess in my ear, I asked for help, and was healed in less than twenty-four hours. I have never since doubted the power of God to heal, and many times through the years following I have been helped. What I am most grateful for, however, is the spiritual uplift and the better understanding of man's relation to God which Christian Science has brought, also for knowing that "Life is real, and death is the illusion" (Science and Health, p. 428). I can never cease to express my love and gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has given us this wonderful book. The Bible, together with Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other writings, also our periodicals, are my daily guides.
