I wish to express my gratitude for the great blessing I...
I wish to express my gratitude for the great blessing I have received through Christian Science. In November, 1909, I injured my ankle very badly, so that I suffered intensely, and although every remedy that we could hear of was tried, nothing seemed to alleviate the pain. As time went by I did not improve, but was gradually getting worse, and the doctors were unable to help me. After nineteen months of worry and suffering I was a helpless invalid, for my other ankle became diseased, and I could not stand on either foot; indeed, this disease seemed to be affecting all my joints, and my general health was failing fast. The doctors did not understand my case, so I lost all hope of ever being cured through materia medica; but I felt that there was something that would help me, if I could only find what it was, and that God would have me cured, so that all my life would not be so sad and dreary.
I was continually seeking to find this new way which I felt would cure me, when a friend told me of Christian Science, and I knew then that I had at last found what I had long been searching for. I wrote to a friend at Muskogee, Okla., for the address of a practitioner, and a dear lady answered my letter, telling me that I could be cured through absent treatment. This letter brought me much happiness and encouragement, for it was full of love and cheerfulness, and I knew the moment I read it that I would get well. Treatment was begun and improvement followed. The first few days I had to be lifted, and could not stand alone, but when the first week was over I could walk with crutches, and the second week I could walk in the house without them. The third week I put the crutches out of sight and was able to visit my friends and to attend Sunday school, and when the month was over I was well and strong. I have not used medicine in any form since my recovery, and I have enjoyed perfect health. My life is a happy one, since I am again in school and sharing the good times with my friends.
The world has been greatly blessed through the teachings which set forth Mrs. Eddy's discovery. Words cannot express my thankfulness to God for His blessing, which came to me through the works and teachings of Christian Science.
