TODAY'S BLESSINGS

In the Lamentations of Jeremiah, we find in the midst of his sorrowful musings a declaration that the divine mercy and compassion are "new every morning," a statement which recalls the oft-quoted words of our revered Leader that open the Preface to Science and Health: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings." Christian Science makes it very clear that every day, as well as every year, is crowned with the divine goodness, if only we are ready to avail ourselves of its bounty. Again and again are we assured in the Scriptures that those who wait upon God shall lack no good thing. It is, however, important to remember the spiritual law as stated by the psalmist: "With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt show thyself upright; with the pure thou wilt show thyself pure."

It of course goes without saying that divine justice and mercy are not dependent upon mortal man for their manifestation, but without a quickened sense of ever-present good the blessings are too often missed and are even denied, while mankind accepts the sorrowful dictum of the poet:
