I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me daily. I came to it for healing after many years' suffering from lung and heart trouble, also severe headaches and catarrh. I had worn glasses for a number of years, and had experienced loss of voice for three years and a half. This was my condition when a friend asked me to try Christian Science. I thought she did not know how serious my condition was; but, thank God, when I investigated this teaching, I found it was the truth.
The doctors could not heal me; they would say that if I were very careful they might help me, so I went to a Christian Science practitioner and she explained the Scriptures to me. It was so beautiful that I asked her if she could help me. She said no, that it was God who did the healing, but she gave me a treatment; then I told her how I was loaded with lung protectors, plasters, etc. She advised me to go home and take off all those things and be myself. I did as she told me, and at my second visit to her I could talk, and see, and I felt fine. She gave me one week's treatment and told me that I must study in order to know the truth for myself. I began, and in fifteen days the light of Truth and Love came to me.
I now learn entirely on Christian Science for everything. I know for myself that it is indeed the truth of being. It matters not what I have to meet, I never depend upon material means, but go at once to God, who is the infinite source of all good, and it is beautiful to let Truth guide us. I used to worry about expenses, but now I do rejoice that through our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, we know how to overcome all anxious thought if we but practise the truth daily. My salary is small, and that is why I am so grateful to know that "the Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." I am a yearly subscriber to the Sentinel, Journal, and Monitor. The thought given daily in the Monitor is more valuable to me than the money it costs. I am also able to keep up all that is asked of me in our church. For all this, and much more, I am deeply thankful to God, and I am also grateful to Mrs. Eddy.—LIZZIE NORRIS, Chicago, Ill.
