THE LECTURES
Judge Clarence A. Buskirk, who delivered a lecture on Christian Science in the local church before a good-sized audience of interested listeners, was introduced by Dr. E. J. Perry in the following words:—
My introduction of the distinguished lecturer will be in the nature of a testimony. I know you will bear with me while I say that there is no place in my life untouched by Christian Science; that there is no place in my life where I cannot best use it. Christian Science comes to me with the first blush of the morning, in the heat of the noontide, and in the twilight of the evening, with joy and peace and healing in its wings. It is my refuge in the night of error, my comforter in trouble, and my strong deliverer. It whispers in my ear, speaking to my consciousness, telling me that there is no pleasure aside from God; that sin, sickness, and death are mortal, while goodness, health, and life are immortal.
Christian Science found me rolling down the hill of speculation, into the ocean of doubt. It illuminated the pages of the Bible, and made it the chart of my life. It made real to me the life-work and promises of Jesus Christ, and reconciled me to God. It filled my life with hope, and took away my fears. I now know the Bible is inspired, because the Bible inspires me. Christian Science taught me that man was made in the image and likeness of God, and what my spiritual birthright really is. It gave me a new concept of God. Christian Science is demonstrable truth. When John the Baptist sent to Jesus to know if he was the Messiah, his reply was significant; they were to tell John that the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame walk, and the sick are healed.
