For more than twelve years I was an active member of a church and always tried to follow its teachings to the best of my ability, but conditions in my home became such that an earnest effort was made to find a truer concept of God, one which would deliver me from the bondage of sickness, limitation, and physical death. My mother had been an invalid for years, with no hope or assurance of help from materia medica. She was in such a deplorable condition that her desire was to die rather than to endure such agony. She was placed in the care of a Christian Science practitioner in the fall of 1905, and the spring of 1906 found her in good health of mind and body. Her healing has been permanent; she has never had a sick day since.
My own conditions were such that a solution of my problems, according to physical sense testimony, seemed impossible. I, however, began a careful study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, in connection with the Bible. This was during the summer of 1905, and so convinced was I of the truth taught in Christian Science, that I almost immediately gave up my former religious views and studied this subject exclusively. I have practised it continually ever since, and its study gave me the true sense of education,—that man in the image and likeness of God must of necessity possess in its completeness the ability and might to understand all things. Having reached this point, it was clear to me that there was a sufficient amount of the right education at hand to enable me to proceed with my work. Following this light, it led me into the possession of an education far above and beyond the mortal and finite concept, an education that heals one of the sense of limitations, moral and physical.
My son has never had any other treatment than Christian Science, nor has he had the many ailments to which children are supposed to be subject. Christian Science has been a continuous blessing in our home ever since we took it up. Not to be grateful for this, or to fail to express gratitude for a religion which meets one's every need, would certainly be unjust. My gratitude to God for Christian Science is unceasing.—John T. Neu, Dubuque, Iowa.
