It was during a stay in Los Angeles, March, 1910, that I was led to investigate Christian Science. At that time discouragement through ill health and uncertain business conditions had made life seem hardly worth living. I had been told several times how very happy Christian Scientists were and wanted to know what made them so, and to say that I have been richly rewarded in my search expresses it mildly. I have been healed of stomach trouble, of a year's standing, in one absent treatment, and a diseased condition of the teeth was overcome in five treatments, the pain leaving after the first day. I had absent treatment while having a tooth extracted, and that experience removed forever all fear of a dentist.
Through the study of Science and Health I have been able to overcome fatigue, nervousness, headaches, irritability, and an incessant condition of worry and fear. To realize that through the loving care of our Father-Mother God I have been spared the necessity of resorting to materia medica or other material means, and have been able to accomplish more the past year than in three years previous, is to me a convincing demonstration of the power of Truth.
Being a professional woman I should also like to add that through knowing God to be the one intelligence I have been greatly helped in memorizing and interpreting various parts, and that Truth has been the means of averting accidents while traveling, and in overcoming many would-be unpleasant circumstances. I am very grateful for Christian Science, because I can live it wherever I go and because it is practical and demonstrable. I have found God to be an ever-present help, and I hope to show my gratitude by living consistently with the truth which has been restored to us through our dear Leader.
