I am deeply grateful that I ever heard of Christian Science

I am deeply grateful that I ever heard of Christian Science. I saw at once that it was the truth for which I had been longing and blindly searching all my life. My first thought while having Christian Science explained to me was one of deepest gratitude to God that Mrs. Eddy had been so inspired with good as to discern the law of God and the Principle of Jesus' teaching so clearly that she had been able to make herself understood by so many thousands of people who like myself were waiting and longing for "they know not what."

The day before I was told of Christian Science my mother seemed to be dying from internal hemorrhage, from which she had suffered for more than twenty years, but after a conversation with a Christian Scientist she was healed while reading the text, "For with God nothing shall be impossible." The day after hearing of Christian Science I went to the Sunday service, where everything was even more beautiful than I expected, and on Tuesday I went to hear a lecture on this subject. I commenced to read Science and Health, and for a while I almost lived in it. I had given no attention to the physical healing, but while reading the text-book I was completely healed of a severe form of stomach disorder from which I had suffered for about fourteen years. I had tried many remedies, but could get no permanent relief, and only by the strictest attention to diet could I keep well enough to attend to my business as a teacher. I was also healed of a throat trouble that I had had for a year, which was accompanied by loss of voice if I attempted to sing. After a few weeks' study of Christian Science I was, however, able to sing solos in public without any inconvenience. Some time ago I had an attack of illness which began on Saturday morning, and in the evening I was in a high fever and delirious, unable to read or to help myself. This continued all night. The next morning my mother asked a practitioner for help. Within a few minutes I was quite rational; was able to sit up in bed and read the Lesson-Sermon. In an hour and a half I was down-stairs, and in the afternoon was out in the fields, quite well. I had absent treatment.

Christian Science has helped me in every detail of my life. It has lifted from me a load of fear and anxiety. I am never tired. It is helping me to overcome everything unlike the truth. There was before a seeming hopelessness about ever attaining to my highest ideals, but Christian Science has raised those ideals higher and yet made them possible of attainment. I am trying to show my gratitude by my daily life and to show my faith by my works.
