I am a believer in Christian Science, although I....
I am a believer in Christian Science, although I have never united with any church or society. Over four years ago I contracted a severe cold, which seemed to settle on my lungs and caused a most distressing cough. My vocal cords appeared to be affected, and this rendered speaking both painful and difficult. I was on a debating team in high school at the time, and our team was to debate with another one in a couple of weeks, but my throat was in such a bad condition that it was feared I could not take part.
A friend who is a Christian Science practitioner was visiting us, and my mother said that this was an opportunity to show what Christian Science could do, and that if her son was helped she would believe in Christian Science, as we had tried everything else. Our friend answered that it is God who does the healing, but she said she would take my case. In a week's time there was not a trace of the distressing cough left; in fact, I believe I was healed with the first treatment, but our friend continued the work for one week.
I have had help on other occasions, while in college, and feel that Christian Science is a sure and safe form of healing. I am very grateful to Mrs. Eddy for bringing to our consciousness this blessed truth.
