Tipton (Ind.) Advocate

The Advocate has recently been receiving on its exchange table a daily copy of The Christian Science Monitor, which is published at Boston, Mass. The paper is a seven-column, fourteen-page publication and compares favorably with the best metropolitan papers of the country. It has been published for almost four years and has a nation-wide circulation. While its pages contain little if anything regarding Christian Science religion, it is an example of clean journalism which is quite refreshing. It stands aloof from sensationalism, as murders, suicides, etc., are omitted from its news columns. Politics is given attention in its editorial columns, which are evidently in the hands of most capable writers. There is a page devoted to popular sports, such as football, baseball, and automobile racing, but prizefights are given no consideration. The financial world is reviewed daily and a considerable amount of space is devoted to the home circle, making The Christian Science Monitor a modern and at the same time a wholesome newspaper.
